Full Job Description

Commercial IT Recycling LTD is seeking a reliable and hands-on IT Technician. The role involves hardware preparation, repair, dismantling, component removal, basic server and network support, and general technical assistance. The ideal candidate will be practical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple technical and operational tasks.

This is a varied role combining IT technical work with equipment handling and inventory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware & Repairs

• Prepare desktop PCs, laptops, and servers for deployment or resale

• Dismantle machines and safely remove components (HDDs, SSDs, RAM, GPUs, etc.)

• Replace screens, drives, and other faulty components

• Diagnose hardware faults

• Wipe and securely remove hard drives from servers and PCs

• Refurbish and test equipment

Server & Network Support (Basic Level)

• Basic understanding of servers and network switches

• Check server configurations

• Perform basic configuration tasks (training can be provided)

• Remove and install drives in servers

• Assist with hardware upgrades and maintenance

Inventory & Logistics

• Prepare machines for sale

• List items on eBay (including photos and descriptions)

• Keep accurate inventory records

• Load/unload equipment from delivery vans

• Organise and store IT equipment safely

Requirements

• Proven experience in IT hardware repair and maintenance (preferred)

• Good knowledge of computer components and server hardware

• Basic understanding of switches and server environments

• Ability to safely dismantle and rebuild IT equipment

• Comfortable performing physical tasks (lifting and moving equipment)

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Security Requirement

• Enhanced DBS check required

• Applicants must have no criminal history

• Employment is subject to satisfactory DBS clearance

Desirable Skills

• Experience working with refurbished IT equipment

• Knowledge of data wiping procedures

• Familiarity with Windows Server environments

• Experience listing and selling IT equipment online (eBay or similar platforms)

Visa Sponsorship

Visa sponsorship under the UK Skilled Worker route may be available, subject to eligibility and Home Office requirements.
