Job Summary

Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee the end-to-end delivery of capital projects across the Trust’s estate. The role involves managing projects from £5K to over £25M, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

The Senior Project Manager will lead project teams, coordinate internal stakeholders, external consultants, and contractors, and manage the full project lifecycle, including design, contract administration, site supervision, commissioning, and compliance with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver capital projects from inception to completion, including technical and clinical commissioning.

• Plan, monitor, and control all aspects of projects to meet cost, time, and quality objectives.

• Design projects in liaison with end users and consultants, commissioning services to meet specifications.

• Ensure project designs meet critical purpose and functionality.

• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align projects with long-term estate and digital strategies.

• Manage project budgets and produce regular financial forecasts.

• Explain and justify project expenditures to senior management in estates and finance.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential:

• Masters degree or equivalent experience

• Degree in construction, engineering, building surveying, or related built environment discipline

• Evidence of CPD and commitment to ongoing learning

Desirable:

• Chartered membership (or working towards) in RICS, CIOB, RIBA, CIBSE, or APM

• PRINCE2 or APM certification

Skills & Abilities

Essential:

• Significant experience leading large multidisciplinary capital projects, preferably in healthcare

• Expertise in construction project delivery, contract management (JCT, NEC), and public sector procurement

• Effective decision-making and conflict resolution skills

• Ability to forward plan and manage critical tasks

Desirable:

• Systematic problem-solving approach

• Experience managing digital infrastructure integration

Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

• Knowledge of statutory project requirements (CDM Regulations, HTM & HBNs, BSA, HSE directives)

• Experience in design and project management of conversion, refurbishment, and new build schemes

• Management of large capital projects to cost and time within public sector budgets

• Understanding of capital procurement programmes

Desirable:

• Knowledge of healthcare trends, estate planning, and sustainable construction solutions

• Carbon reduction and future-proofing strategies
