Health Education and Improvement Wales is looking for a Senior Digital Media Officer to play a pivotal role in how the organisation communicates, engages, and connects with people, partners, and the wider health and care system.
This is a high impact, hands on digital role for someone who combines strong technical expertise with creativity, sound judgement, and the confidence to advise and influence at senior level.
Location: Contractually office-based at Ty Dysgu, Nantgarw. However, the current working arrangement operates on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. This arrangement is subject to review and may change in line with organisational requirements.
Main Duties of the Job
As Senior Digital Media Officer, the role will lead the day to day management and development of HEIW’s digital channels, including bilingual websites, intranet, and social media platforms.
The role ensures content is clear, accessible, engaging, bilingual, and aligned to organisational priorities, while continually improving quality, performance, and user experience.
Working closely with colleagues across Communications, Digital and Data, the wider organisation, and external suppliers, the role delivers joined up digital campaigns, high-quality content, and measurable impact.
The role also includes professional leadership, with day-to-day support to colleagues and deputising for senior managers when required.

Essential
Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or digital media
Strong professional knowledge of digital communications, including social media, websites, CMS, videography and analytics
Desirable
Experience of MURA CMS

Experience of managing social media accounts in a high profile organisation
Hands on experience of producing digital content (graphics, video, copy) for web and social channels
Experience of managing and developing websites, including accessibility, SEO and analytics

Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards, SEO, and digital compliance
Evidence of ongoing professional development in communications, journalism or marketing
Knowledge of CMS systems
Experience of planning, organising and coordinating multiple digital projects or campaigns simultaneously

Postgraduate qualification in communications, marketing, or journalism
Membership of a relevant professional body (CIPR, CIM, etc.)
Welsh language skills (level 1 or above in understanding, speaking, reading and writing)
