An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the finance team as a Management Accountant (Band 5). This role is ideal for a self-motivated and proactive individual with excellent planning, organisational, verbal, and written communication skills. Applicants must be committed to pursuing a CCAB qualification.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to join a finance team within a large, specialist, and complex organisation with strong opportunities for learning and development.
Main Duties
Support the Finance Manager, deputy, and service area teams with accounting, analytical support, and presentation of complex financial information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues
Constructively challenge service area financial and business performance to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
Produce monthly budget statements and financial reports for agreement with the Head of Finance for service area board meetings
Contribute to the Trust’s position for internal and external corporate reporting
Support financial decision-making with clear analytical insights

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential):
Educated to degree level or equivalent in experience
Willingness to work towards a CCAB qualification
Qualifications (Desirable):
Part-qualified CCAB or CIMA
Experience (Essential):
Financial management using accounting principles
Use of finance systems
Experience in reconciliations, reporting, and monitoring processes with accurate records
Experience (Desirable):
Financial management month-end reporting
Knowledge (Essential):
Up-to-date knowledge of NHS developments and finance policies
Knowledge (Desirable):
NHS funding and regulations (NHSI, NHSE, ICS, Local Authority)
Skills (Essential):
Produce financial statements and reports while adhering to Trust timetables
Competent in computerised financial systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
Ability to work with non-finance managers and act as first point of contact for budget control
Explain and interpret financial information clearly to non-finance staff
Excellent numerical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Skills (Desirable):
Produce monthly financial statements and manipulate complex data to inform decision-making
Question, review, and challenge non-financial managers
Produce narrative reports highlighting key financial issues
