Job Overview
Carrick Care Family is seeking an experienced, highly skilled Registered Nurse to join a small care home team in Burntisland. The role offers the opportunity to lead and develop a small care team while providing clinical oversight and supporting the manager. This position is ideal for nurses who want to make a real difference in patient care and enjoy working in a family-run, mentoring-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation.
Administer medications, injections, and IV infusions safely, following aseptic protocols.
Use electronic health record (EHR) systems (Cerner or Athenahealth) for accurate documentation and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
Perform specialized procedures including suturing, catheterization, tube feeding, and wound care.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across acute care, long-term care, hospice, and outpatient settings to develop care plans.
Manage complex cases in trauma, infectious disease, geriatrics, pediatrics, or behavioral health.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
Educate patients on health management, medication administration, pain management, and discharge planning.
Required Skills & Experience
Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems (Cerner or eClinicalWorks).
Proficiency in advanced nursing procedures including ventilator management and laboratory specimen handling.
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
Critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers; hospital medicine or emergency room experience is highly desirable.
Skilled in acute pain management, infection control, and aseptic technique.
Experience with diverse populations, including dementia and memory care patients.
Ability to perform complex assessments in outpatient clinics, assisted living facilities, or home/community care settings.
Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation law and case management principles (occupational health cases).
