Job Summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Social Worker for its Adult Safeguarding Team in Salford.

  • Promoting independence through reablement approaches

  • Safeguarding vulnerable adults and managing complex social work cases

Main Duties

The Social Worker will:

  • Act as a skilled, effective practitioner with considerable autonomy

  • Apply in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly the Care Act 2014

  • Conduct strengths-based, outcomes-focused social care assessments

  • Develop person-centred support plans and carry out reviews

  • Safeguard vulnerable adults following Making Safeguarding Personal principles

  • Carry out Section 42 enquiries and manage higher-risk situations

  • Conduct mental capacity assessments and hold best interest meetings

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful outcomes

  • Network and liaise with professionals across the organisation

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, CQSW, CSS, Dip SW, or equivalent)

  • Current registration with Social Work England

  • Full driving licence with a roadworthy vehicle and valid insurance

  • Skilled in social work practice, safeguarding, and assessment processes

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of legislation including Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Equality Act

  • Ability to complete strength-based assessments and implement actions to minimise risk

  • Experience safeguarding vulnerable adults and carrying out Section 42 enquiries

  • Ability to manage caseloads and prioritise workload effectively

  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and mentoring staff/students

  • Strong record-keeping and use of IT systems

Security & Legal Requirements

  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required

  • Skilled Worker sponsorship available for applicants outside the UK

  • Criminal record certificates required from countries resided in for 12+ months over the past 10 years

  • Must hold current UK professional registration
