The post holder plays a key role in delivering Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust equality, diversity and inclusion ambitions by building a Workforce Data and Intelligence picture and supporting overall strategy.

Working across the EDI Team and the Workforce Systems & Intelligence Team, the role has two key strands:

Responsibility for the co-ordination, collation and management of timely and accurate delivery of workforce intelligence relating to equality, diversity and inclusion, including analytical interpretation of data for internal and external customers within agreed timelines.

Co-ordination and management of projects in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion and wider workforce intelligence and data quality, supporting better use of workforce systems through compliance monitoring systems aligned with EDI metrics.

Main Duties of the Job

Workforce Information

  • Manage accurate and timely delivery of regular and ad-hoc reports (e.g. FOIs)
  • Prepare and deliver internal and external reports (e.g. Data Matrix, WRES/WDES)
  • Analyse and interpret workforce data and present insights clearly
  • Prepare data for boards including recruitment, turnover, disciplinary and workforce composition by protected characteristics
  • Identify trends, issues and areas for further investigation
  • Conduct benchmarking and external analysis against other Trusts and sectors
  • Ensure data governance protocols are followed and sensitive data is protected
  • Support workforce planning and strategic reporting initiatives
  • Maintain knowledge of internal and external data systems (e.g. ESR, NHS iView)

Reports Development

  • Develop workforce reports for internal and external users
  • Gather feedback from users to improve reporting systems
  • Monitor developments in workforce reporting technology
  • Maintain knowledge of systems interfacing with ESR

Projects

  • Support Associate Director of EDI with workforce data projects
  • Manage projects from initiation to completion, including workforce planning and data quality improvements
  • Use project management tools such as risk registers and highlight reports
  • Manage statutory and internal reporting projects (WRES, WDES, Gender Pay Gap)
  • Provide project support to analysts within the team
  • Produce progress updates for senior leadership

Information Governance

  • Ensure workforce information is processed in line with Trust policies
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues
  • Monitor and audit systems and processes for improvements
  • Support development of system policies and procedures
  • Liaise with audit and governance teams
  • Produce KPI and compliance monitoring reports

Networking

  • Work with stakeholders to communicate developments in workforce information
  • Attend ESR groups, conferences and EDI events
  • Share best practices and reporting improvements

Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute to workforce systems strategy development
  • Attend Super Users Group meetings
  • Explore innovative reporting solutions and automation
  • Support systems team when required

Person Specification

Qualifications / Experience

Essential

  • Graduate level qualification or equivalent experience in systems management/information role
  • Experience working in a large NHS organisation or similar environment
  • Experience managing and coordinating projects
  • Experience producing reports and management information

Technical Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Advanced knowledge of ESR or Oracle HRMS
  • Experience designing Discoverer reports
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Access including pivot tables, queries, macros)
  • Knowledge of database structures and relational databases
  • Knowledge of EDI statutory reporting (WRES, WDES, Gender Pay Gap)
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail

This role is subject to a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
