Job Summary
Plumber / Heating Engineer (Mechanical Craftsperson) – Suffolk Based at Bury St Edmunds
Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) are looking for a skilled Plumber/Heating Engineer to join the existing multi-disciplinary professional maintenance team in providing a safe environment for all service users, staff and visitors across Suffolk sites. (Flexible between Ipswich & Bury)

The ideal candidate would be a Gas Safe Registered engineer, however this is not essential as relevant training and support will be provided for the right person.
Main Duties of the Job
The work relates to both domestic and specialist commercial aspects of plumbing, hot and cold water systems, ventilation & heating systems and natural gas systems.
The successful candidate would be flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated and confident in being part of a team that provides a comprehensive maintenance service in a unique and varied environment.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- To provide a comprehensive service to include all aspects of planned and routine maintenance and servicing
- To repair and maintain a wide range of mechanical services and equipment on site
- Ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with the requirements of Health and Safety and other relevant legislation
- Fault finding and diagnosis
- Routine inspections to ensure the estate is safe and fully compliant
- Be prepared to participate as a member of the On-Call Team providing an emergency out of hours service on a rotational basis

- Ability to work at height using ladders/ scaffolding, access platforms and in confined spaces
Experience

- Two years experience having demonstrated high technical verstility and flexability

- Experience of working in a mental health or secure services hospital environment
Qualifications
Essential
- Recognised and registered CITB or EITB minimum three year apprenticeship in plumbing/mechanical engineering AND/OR City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering Parts 1, 2 & 3 or Plumbing NVQ 1, 2 & 3 OR BTEC, ONC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence for ability to drive Trust vehicles
Desirable
- BTEC, ONC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Accredited Certificate Scheme (ACS) Gas Qualified
