Job Summary
Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) is seeking an enthusiastic and resourceful Social Worker to join the Community Mental Health Team in Chelmsford, Mid Essex.
The role requires a creative and positive approach to meeting the needs of service users, their families, and carers. The Social Worker will collaborate with crisis intervention services, inpatient care, specialist pathways such as early intervention in psychosis and personality disorder support, and GPs through the Integrated Mental Health Service. The post also works alongside Essex County Council to implement Care Act principles of prevent, reduce, and delay.
Main Duties
This role emphasizes holistic, person-centred care, safeguarding, and recovery-focused interventions for adults in Chelmsford. Key responsibilities include:
Providing high-quality assessment and intervention for service users with a wide range of mental health problems, promoting recovery and independence.
Delivering strength-based approaches to support recovery and social inclusion for individuals and families.
Implementing the personalisation agenda through strengths-based assessments and fulfilling statutory social care duties under the Care Act (2014).
Following probation, undertaking AMHP training (if not already qualified) to carry out Mental Health Act assessments and related duties. AMHP work attracts additional pay and reduced caseloads.
Exercising professional autonomy within a multi-disciplinary team.

Person Specification
Qualifications:
Essential: Social Work Qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent)
Desirable: Studying or willingness to study for full Post Qualification Award in Social Work
Skills:
Essential: Ability to coach/support students or unqualified staff, strong professional and ethical values, IT literate
Desirable: Communication and presentation skills
