Role Overview
Newgate Lodge Care Home is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Assistant to join the Night Team.
No previous experience is required – full training and support are provided to help you thrive in this role. The position involves working night shifts to ensure the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of residents.
Key Responsibilities
Provide personal care and support during night hours, maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect
Assist residents with toileting, repositioning, continence care, and mobility
Conduct regular checks to ensure residents’ safety and wellbeing
Respond promptly and calmly to call bells, alarms, and emergencies
Monitor residents’ physical and emotional condition and report changes to the Team Leader
Maintain accurate electronic care records during the shift
Support residents who may be anxious, distressed, or experiencing sleep disturbances
Carry out light housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment
Follow safeguarding, health and safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies
Work collaboratively with the night team and hand over important information to day staff

Shift Pattern
Night shifts: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM, rota includes weekends
Additional shifts may be available to cover annual leave and sickness
Additional Information
The successful applicant must complete an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references before employment
English language proficiency is preferred
Work authorisation in the United Kingdom is required
