Job Overview

Woodside Green, A Share Primary Academy is looking to recruit an outstanding Class Teacher who can inspire pupils to learn with enthusiasm and enjoy all the experiences a school can offer. Both experienced and early career teachers (ECTs) are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

As a Primary Class Teacher, responsibilities include:

  1. Teaching classes of pupils, ensuring planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.

  2. Delivering carefully planned learning activities that build pupils’ knowledge over time, ensuring standards meet or exceed the National Curriculum.

  3. Monitoring and supporting overall pupil progress, setting individual improvement goals.

  4. Facilitating learning experiences to help pupils achieve their potential.

  5. Contributing to raising standards of pupil achievement and attainment.

  6. Promoting and actively supporting the school’s safeguarding responsibilities.

  7. Providing and maintaining a stimulating, well-ordered learning environment.

  8. Teaching pupils according to educational needs, including setting and marking work.

  9. Maintaining discipline according to school procedures, promoting good punctuality, behaviour, and standards.

  10. Meeting the learning needs of individual pupils, including vulnerable groups such as those with SEN or disabilities.

  11. Supporting pupils who have fallen behind to catch up.

  12. Liaising effectively with staff, parents, and others to support pupils’ learning.

  13. Organising support staff to target assistance and raise standards.

  14. Assessing, recording, and reporting on attendance, progress, and attainment.

  15. Using assessment outcomes to shape future planning.

  16. Undertaking professional development to achieve the highest standards.

  17. Rewarding and celebrating pupils’ success.

  18. Attending staff meetings, parents’ evenings, and completing administrative tasks as required.

  19. Performing any other duties as directed by the Headteacher.

Essential Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Degree or equivalent

  • Experience or ability to teach across all school years

  • Evidence of continuing professional development and willingness to undertake further development

  • Ability to inspire pupils and form strong relationships with colleagues and parents

  • Knowledge of assessment processes and tracking systems to improve pupil progress

  • Working knowledge of the National Curriculum and good primary practice

  • Ability to implement SEN provision in a class setting

  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills

  • Commitment to safeguarding children

  • Flexibility to work within overall hours, including evenings

  • Willingness and ability to travel as required

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of innovative teaching and learning strategies

  • High competency in ICT

  • Willingness to engage in wider school life including extra-curricular activities

  • Evidence of monitoring and evaluating interventions and strategies

  • Evidence of data analysis to improve performance

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

Candidate Requirements & Safeguarding

  • All candidates will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check.

  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.

  • Skilled Worker visas can be sponsored.

  • SHARE MAT adheres to the Equalities Act 2010 and Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.

  • Staff and volunteers receive regular safeguarding training.

  • Online checks will be undertaken for shortlisted candidates.

Reporting Structure

Headteacher → Assistant Head → Class Teachers

Internal contacts include all teachers and support staff. External contacts include parents, carers, families, and other agencies to support pupil learning.
