The Role

The role will deliver tactical product marketing activities in support of the strategic product marketing plans and product roadmaps for all OpenAthens products and services in target global markets.

The role will create compelling, value-driven content aligned with the overarching product narrative and positioning. This includes contributing to compelling customer experience; provide sales enablement; enhance clarity and cohesion around customer communications; and increase the relevance and frequency of external messaging.

The role is user-centred and focused on educating and articulating the value of the product to target customer groups in a clear, consistent and engaging way. Excellent communication and copywriting skills are essential, alongside the ability to understand product knowledge effectively.

Key areas for focus include America and Europe. Fluency in English and Portuguese is required. Knowledge of Spanish will be valuable.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Working with the OpenAthens product marketing function to deliver product marketing activity and campaigns to achieve objectives within agreed budgets.

  • Creating and managing the production of engaging and effective content including blogs, whitepapers, thought leadership, case studies, videos, social posts, and sales enablement materials aligned to buyer personas, product hierarchy and the buyer’s journey. Crafting narratives that lead with value, not just features, ensuring content resonates with buyer personas and aligns to product hierarchy and the buyer’s journey.

  • Adapting messaging across channels and formats while maintaining a consistent brand voice.

  • Creating effective educational content to help customers and stakeholders around the world understand products and services by using an easy-to-understand language and tone of voice directed at international audiences.

  • Collaborating with the wider marketing team to ensure content supports campaigns and enablement efforts.

  • Supporting the product marketing function to localise and deliver go-to-market plans and tactics.

  • Collaborating with the broader product marketing function and research teams to translate research insights – such as customer pain points, preferred content formats, and industry trends into impactful market-facing content and educational materials.

  • Crafting compelling news releases and building strong relationships with international journalists and media outlets, developing clear and impactful PR pitches that position OpenAthens and its experts as trusted thought leaders in the industry.

  • Creating effective educational content to help customers and stakeholders around the world understand products and services by using an easy-to-understand language and tone of voice directed at international audiences.

  • Monitoring the brand in the press and analysing performance.

  • Measuring, reporting on and improving the effectiveness of product marketing content and tactics delivered.

What Jisc Is Looking For

  • Excellent written and verbal fluency in English and Portuguese.

  • Experience across marketing, communications, or PR functions using marketing tools and channels including websites, email, social and video.

  • Demonstrable experience writing successful communications and content pieces.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.

  • Ability to grasp complex IT concepts and communicate to a wider audience.

Hybrid Working
