Role Overview

Newgate Lodge Care Home is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Assistant to join the Night Team.

No previous experience is required – full training and support are provided to help you thrive in this role. The position involves working night shifts to ensure the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and support during night hours, maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect

• Assist residents with toileting, repositioning, continence care, and mobility

• Conduct regular checks to ensure residents’ safety and wellbeing

• Respond promptly and calmly to call bells, alarms, and emergencies

• Monitor residents’ physical and emotional condition and report changes to the Team Leader

• Maintain accurate electronic care records during the shift

• Support residents who may be anxious, distressed, or experiencing sleep disturbances

• Carry out light housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment

• Follow safeguarding, health and safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies

• Work collaboratively with the night team and hand over important information to day staff

Shift Pattern

• Night shifts: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM, rota includes weekends

• Additional shifts may be available to cover annual leave and sickness

Additional Information

• The successful applicant must complete an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references before employment

• English language proficiency is preferred

• Work authorisation in the United Kingdom is required
