Job Summary
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is the strategic workforce body for NHS Wales, focused on developing a skilled, compassionate, and future-ready workforce to improve patient care and population health.
The Senior Digital Media Officer will play a pivotal role in communicating, engaging, and connecting with HEIW colleagues, partners, and the wider health and care system. This high-impact, hands-on role combines technical expertise with creativity, sound judgment, and the confidence to advise and influence at senior level.
Location: Contractually office-based at Ty Dysgu, Nantgarw. Hybrid working is currently in place, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office.
Salary: £39,263 – £47,280 per annum

Key Responsibilities
The Senior Digital Media Officer will lead the day-to-day management and development of HEIW’s digital presence, including:
Managing HEIW’s bilingual websites, intranet, and social media platforms.
Ensuring content is clear, accessible, engaging, and aligned to organisational priorities.
Improving quality, performance, and user experience across digital channels.
Delivering digital campaigns and high-quality content with measurable impact.
Providing professional leadership, coaching, and support to colleagues.
Deputising for senior managers as required.
Collaborating with Communications, Digital and Data teams, and external suppliers.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential:
Degree or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or digital media
Strong professional knowledge of digital communications, including social media, websites, CMS, videography, and analytics
Desirable:
Experience with MURA CMS
Postgraduate qualification in communications, marketing, or journalism
Membership of a relevant professional body (CIPR, CIM, etc.)
Welsh language skills (Level 1 or above)
Experience
Essential:
Managing social media accounts in a high-profile organisation
Producing digital content (graphics, video, copy) for web and social channels
Managing and developing websites with accessibility, SEO, and analytics focus
Using analytics to evaluate performance and inform improvements
Creating and implementing digital communications plans
Managing paid and organic digital advertising, including budgets
Working with external agencies on design, video, or digital projects
Desirable:
Managing bilingual social media accounts
Handling high-profile, sensitive, or crisis situations digitally
Working in the NHS, public sector, or similarly complex organisation
Supporting CMS development programmes or projects
