Lewis Household is seeking a dedicated and experienced Online Maths Tutor to support two 14-year-old students preparing to take their GCSEs early in Year 10. The tutoring will be conducted one-on-one, not together, providing personalized guidance to each student.

The ideal tutor will deliver engaging, structured, and tailored lessons that build strong foundations in key concepts while boosting the students’ confidence and academic performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and interactive online lessons in Maths.

  • Assess the students’ current academic levels and tailor lessons accordingly.

  • Develop structured learning plans aligned with the GCSE curriculum for early exam preparation.

  • Provide exam-focused guidance, including problem-solving techniques, essay writing skills, and scientific reasoning.

  • Assign and review practice work to reinforce learning and monitor progress.

  • Offer constructive feedback and communicate progress with parents.

  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and abilities.

  • Utilize online teaching tools effectively to enhance student engagement.

Requirements

  • Qualified teacher or experienced tutor with expertise in Maths at GCSE level.

  • Strong knowledge of the UK GCSE curriculum.

  • Proven experience tutoring students aged 12–16 (preferably for GCSE preparation).

  • Ability to develop personalized learning plans and motivate students.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Access to a stable internet connection, a laptop/computer, and online teaching tools (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.).

  • DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) for safeguarding purposes.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in accelerated learning for early exam entry.

  • Familiarity with GCSE exam techniques and past paper practice.

  • Ability to make lessons engaging and interactive using technology and visual aids.

  • Patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for teaching young learners.
