The Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 NHEF Scholars Program, marking a decade of impact in developing Nigeria’s future leaders. The program is designed to equip talented Nigerian students with the skills, experiences, and networks required to succeed as professionals and leaders.

The NHEF Scholars Program identifies exceptional students in their penultimate year and equips them with:

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the 2026 NHEF Scholars Program, applicants must:

Be well-rounded individuals with demonstrated excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and professional pursuits
Exhibit a strong commitment to community service, philanthropy, and a desire to make a lasting impact in society

Submission Procedure
All applications must be submitted via the NHEF Application Portal (https://portal.thenhef.org/) latest by 11:59 p.m. (WAT) on March 13, 2026.
Application Portal Guide
Log on to the NHEF application portal: https://portal.thenhef.org/
Register by creating an account on the portal by entering first and last name, email address, phone number, and password
Verify the email address by checking the inbox and clicking the verification link
Log in using the registered email address and password
Click on the APPLY tab from the dashboard
Complete all bio-data information and program essay questions
Upload the required supporting documents:
One-page Curriculum Vitae (CV)
One-page Cover Letter
Most recent Statement of Result
(All documents must be in PDF format)
Review application responses and submit
Note:
The Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) suggests that interested candidates prepare responses to the application questions in a separate document before starting the application. This is because the application cannot be saved and must be completed in one sitting. Applicants are advised to apply using a laptop or desktop computer and ensure access to a strong and reliable internet connection.
Successful Application Submission
Applicants can confirm successful submission in the following ways:
The dashboard will display: “Scholars Program – Application Submitted on YY-MM-DD and the time it was submitted”
A confirmation email will be sent to the applicant’s registered email address
The Scholars Program application tab on the dashboard will no longer be accessible
The above steps confirm that the application has been successfully submitted.
