Job Summary

The Digital Project Manager will work on a project focused on the development and implementation of the workforce data standards service.

This service aims to improve workforce data across the NHS at local, regional, and national levels. It will support updates to the national workforce dataset and contribute to the workforce section of the canonical data model.

The goal is to reduce the burden on NHS organisations by consolidating and minimising workforce data collection requirements wherever possible.

Working within OneLSC, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is focused on delivering improvements through Information Technology, including digital transformation projects such as the IMS Maxims Electronic Patient Record rollout under the Digital Level-Up Programme.

Main Duties of the Job

The Digital Project Manager is responsible for the successful day-to-day delivery of assigned Digital projects on behalf of Programme and Project Boards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring planning, resourcing, reporting, and deployment activities are completed
  • Managing safe and timely implementation of projects
  • Monitoring progress against implementation plans on a daily basis
  • Managing risks, issues, dependencies, and corrective actions
  • Maintaining risk logs and ensuring mitigation actions are in place
  • Coordinating project workstreams and supporting delivery leads
  • Ensuring project outputs meet quality, time, and cost requirements
  • Managing relationships with third-party suppliers
  • Acting as the main contact between the Trust and external providers
  • Managing budgets and monitoring expenditure against plans
  • Supporting clinical and operational leaders with system implementation advice
  • Communicating complex technical information in a clear, non-technical way
  • Providing reports, updates, and recommendations to decision-making forums

Job Responsibilities

The Digital Project Manager will:

  • Produce Project Initiation Documents (PID) and detailed implementation plans (DIP)
  • Plan and allocate project resources across departments and organisations
  • Define and issue work packages within scope, cost, and time constraints
  • Manage dependencies between programmes and projects
  • Track progress and resolve delivery issues
  • Escalate risks and decisions when necessary
  • Ensure governance standards are met across all workstreams
  • Maintain performance and reporting frameworks for project boards
  • Support stakeholder communication and engagement across multiple levels
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers on financial and operational matters

Person Specification

Qualifications and Education

Essential:

  • Degree level education or equivalent experience in IT project management
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner or Agile qualification

Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale digital projects in healthcare
  • Strong understanding of NHS digital workforce systems
  • Experience applying digital solutions in healthcare environments
  • Knowledge of clinical and corporate governance and risk management
  • Experience delivering transformational change
  • Experience working with NHSE on workforce data standards
