Full Job Description
Neon Gorilla | UK (Remote / Hybrid)
Neon Gorilla is a performance-led marketing agency operating at the intersection of content, SEO, and automation. As AI increases output across the web, the focus is simple: quality, credibility, and human judgment.
Neon Gorilla is hiring a Senior Content Editor / Quality Lead to act as the human layer technology cannot replace. This role exists to ensure content is accurate, trustworthy, and worth publishing.
The Role
This role involves spending most of the time editing and improving long-form content to a publish-ready standard for a large, ongoing client contract. The position serves as the quality gatekeeper and the final editorial authority before content reaches clients.
This is a hands-on role for someone who values craft, precision, and accountability over novelty.
What You’ll Do
Editorial Quality Ownership (Primary)
Edit high volumes of long-form content to a high standard
Improve clarity, structure, tone, and logical flow
Remove AI artefacts, filler, and vague or unsupported claims
Sense-check factual accuracy and editorial integrity
Strengthen introductions, headings, and conclusions
Ensure content aligns with real search intent and user needs
Working in a Diverse, Cross-Functional Team
This role works closely with:
Content strategists
SEO specialists
Engineers and automation builders
Founders and senior leadership
Key responsibilities include:
Communicate clearly and constructively across disciplines
Give direct, respectful feedback focused on outcomes
Translate abstract strategy into concrete editorial standards
Raise quality without slowing momentum
This team values clarity over hierarchy.
Client Contract and Quality Leadership
Maintain consistent editorial standards across large-scale content programmes
Identify patterns and systemic issues early
Reduce revision loops by fixing problems upstream
Support quality-led client discussions through evidence in the work
Influence on SaaS Products and Systems
This role goes beyond using tools and contributes to shaping them.
Responsibilities include:
Provide real-world editorial feedback into internal SaaS tools
Influence how automation, prompts, and workflows are designed
Help define where automation stops and human judgment begins
Improve systems by using them under real constraints
Editorial insight feeds directly into product decisions.
Social Distribution (Secondary)
Where appropriate, responsibilities include:
Repurpose strong editorial insights for LinkedIn
Contribute meaningfully to relevant Reddit discussions
Support YouTube scripts or descriptions derived from long-form content
The same quality bar applies everywhere.
Human in the Loop, by Design
Advanced tools and automation are used to move fast, but judgment is not outsourced.
This role exists because:
Credibility cannot be automated
Trust is earned, not generated
Someone must be accountable for saying “this is not good enough”
What This Role Is Not
Not a social media manager
Not a growth marketer
Not a junior writing role
Not a passive reviewer
The role is accountable for the final standard.
What Neon Gorilla Is Looking For
Essential
Exceptional written English
Strong editorial instinct and judgment
Comfort editing other people’s work at scale
Ability to work deeply and consistently without standards slipping
Clear, direct communicator in diverse teams
Nice to Have
SEO literacy, including search intent and structure
Experience editing AI-assisted content
Background in journalism, publishing, or long-form editorial work
How Success Is Measured
Fewer quality escalations
Reduced revision cycles
Increased client confidence
Clear, repeatable editorial standards
Better systems informed by real editorial use
How Neon Gorilla Works
Google Docs for content
Asana for delivery
Slack for communication
Clear ownership and minimal noise
Why Join Neon Gorilla
This role offers the opportunity to work in a diverse, senior team where judgment matters, with influence over real products, real systems, and real outcomes—not just output volume.
If the belief is that technology should amplify human intelligence rather than replace it, this role aligns with that vision.
