About the Role

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting newly qualified Social Workers to join a community mental health team in a fast-paced city centre area. This role offers a structured programme of CPD to support completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) with an allocated supervisor and comprehensive induction. Flexible working is supported, and on-site parking and IT equipment are provided to enable mobility across sites.

This position is ideal for motivated graduates keen to work with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, focusing on improving social circumstances, recovery, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with service users across a range of settings, including Primary Care.

  • Assess needs using strength-based and human rights approaches, emphasizing prevention and independence.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in other Trust services (including in-patient teams) and external partners.

  • Plan, arrange, and review packages of care according to local authority operating models.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential:

  • Degree and current professional registration with Social Work England.

  • Willingness to undertake mentorship/practice learning assessor responsibilities.

  • Understanding of relevant legislation and policy, e.g., Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Care Act, safeguarding.

Desirable:

  • Evidence of CPD or formal advanced-level qualifications.

  • Knowledge of relevant professional practice standards and audits within mental health services.

Experience
Essential:

  • Willingness to complete the ASYE programme.

  • Knowledge/experience in mental health service areas.

  • Understanding of caseload management and care coordination.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.

Desirable:

  • Experience in user/carer involvement.

  • Familiarity with Care Act assessment processes.

Skills & Competencies
Essential:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Effective time management.

  • Demonstrates core social work values and ethical standards within equality and diversity.

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.
