Job Summary
This role provides the opportunity to manage an information team in one of the largest acute trusts in the country. The size and pace of our organisation makes this role achallenging, but hugely rewarding one.
The role covers Guy’s and St Thomas’ statuary and mandatory reporting- ensuring our arm’s length bodies are sighted on our trusts position. The post will also be responsible for the production of high-quality internal information flows. The successful candidate will champion data lead decision making and become a vital part of the excellent care provided by the hospital.
The role falls into the wider Health Informatics Department. This exciting department provides opportunities to work collaboratively with colleagues with different expertise, from data warehousing to data modelling. Within the department, this role is central and provides the vital bridge between data and insight.
Main Duties of the Job
Manage the trusts process for national returns and submissions in line with current National definitions, standards and ISNs
Manage & develop the trusts internal operational reporting framework for acute services
Maintain the ad-hoc request process. Ensure request are triaged, and assigned to the appropriate lead and delivered within appropriate timeframe
Provide analytical and interpretational support to operational and trust management teams, to support patient care
Management of the Information Team
Deputises for the Deputy Head of Information Delivery, where appropriate, assuming full managerial and representative roles

Job Description
Job Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the submission of a portfolio of high priority returns and the production of internal operational and management reports.
Ensuring returns are completed within agreed timetable and sent to for appropriate sign-off
Maintain & develop return processes, including the internal quality assurance framework
Keeping abreast of all national reporting guidance and ensuring all changes to, or new reporting requirements are implemented
Support internal and external analytical requests
The post holder will support operational management, Performance and Planning and Elective Assurance teams with high quality routine and ad hoc reports, Information management and analytical expertise.
Ensuring all reports are produce and published as per the reporting timetable
Working with operational teams to create analytical reports and tools to aid data driven decision making
Developing and maintaining user guides and promotional material for reports
Management of the Acute Information delivery teams- to ensure the smooth running of external and internal reporting. Focusing on skill development of junior members of staff.
Team management of up to five analysts
Recruitment and retention for existing and any future roles within the team
Staff development and training
Create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation, including: Senior Information Staff, Planning and performance team, Elective Assurance, Operational management teams, Information Governance & National reporting and policy teams.
Working with and creating stakeholder engagement groups for key reporting products
Representing information delivery within operational and performance meeting
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
Master’s degree in informatics-related discipline, or equivalent experience within the area of information management
Graduate with high level of numeracy
Experience
Essential
Broad experience of using information derived from large and complex data sets
Experience in collection, management, reporting and presentation of waiting list and activity data
Desirable
Experience of managing staff, including staff development
Skills
Essential
Mature and confident manner capable of negotiating and influencing clinical and managerial staff
Advanced Excel skills including macros
Demonstrable aptitude for techniques of database design, management and interrogation Including the use of SQL
