Job Summary
The Trust is seeking an experienced client-facing Senior Project Manager (construction) to join the Capital and Planning Section of the Estates Department.
Role Overview:
-
Lead project management for capital construction and major refurbishment projects within the Trust’s acute building stock

Manage projects from inception to in-use across all RIBA stages
-
Supervise construction professionals and Trust stakeholders
-
Utilize NEC3/4 contracts and Green Book 5-case business model
-
Demonstrate commercial awareness and knowledge of procurement routes, governance, and financial management
Spot Salary: £64,000
Key Responsibilities
-
Commission and project manage major capital new works projects (£4–6 million per scheme)
-
Provide expert professional advice on major specialist projects
-
Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the procurement and delivery of capital schemes
-
Ensure projects meet specification, budget, and deadlines
-
Manage external consultants, contractors, and specialist services
-
Report into the Assistant Director of Estates (Strategy, Planning & Capital Development)

Direct line management of Project Managers and Clerk of Works within the Capital Team
Person Specification
Knowledge:
-
Essential: Building techniques, procurement routes, contract management, design processes, major programmes of work, financial management, physical healthcare environment standards (HTM and HBN)

Desirable: Engineering services, acute healthcare experience, BIM systems, NHS building and planning legislation
Skills:

Essential: Excellent oral and written communication, planning, organisation, leadership, and change management

Desirable: Working knowledge of CAD systems
Experience:

Essential: Extensive experience in design, construction, and project management of major building projects, preferably in acute healthcare settings
Qualifications:

Essential: Graduate level, Master’s degree or equivalent experience, Chartered membership of a recognised professional body, PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent
