Job Summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer with a solid foundation in design principles and a passion for creating excellent user experiences. The role involves designing digital products within agile, cross-functional teams and translating complex problems into intuitive, user-friendly solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design responsive web and mobile experiences, turning complex problems into elegant solutions.

  • Create design assets including sitemaps, wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity UI designs.

  • Work with design systems and component-based design approaches.

  • Collaborate with developers, stakeholders, and product teams to ensure seamless implementation.

  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

  • Support and mentor junior designers as needed.

Optional / Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Experience with prototyping tools and iterative, test-and-learn design processes.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and user research/testing methods.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent experience.

  • Strong experience in a UI/UX or digital product design role.

  • Proven experience designing for web and mobile applications.

  • Experience with responsive design, grid systems, and accessibility principles.

  • Proficient in industry-standard design tools: Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Balsamiq, Omnigraffle, InVision, Sketch.

Desirable:

  • Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to support design handoff.

  • Exposure to rapid prototyping and iterative design in agile environments.

  • Experience in healthcare, clinical, or other regulated environments.

  • Experience using analytics tools.

  • Mentoring or pairing with junior designers.

  • Collaborate effectively with developers, stakeholders, and product teams.
