Job Summary
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer with a solid foundation in design principles and a passion for creating excellent user experiences. The role involves designing digital products within agile, cross-functional teams and translating complex problems into intuitive, user-friendly solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design responsive web and mobile experiences, turning complex problems into elegant solutions.
Create design assets including sitemaps, wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity UI designs.
Work with design systems and component-based design approaches.
Collaborate with developers, stakeholders, and product teams to ensure seamless implementation.
Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Support and mentor junior designers as needed.
Optional / Nice to Have:
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Experience with prototyping tools and iterative, test-and-learn design processes.
Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and user research/testing methods.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent experience.
Strong experience in a UI/UX or digital product design role.
Proven experience designing for web and mobile applications.
Experience with responsive design, grid systems, and accessibility principles.
Proficient in industry-standard design tools: Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Balsamiq, Omnigraffle, InVision, Sketch.
Desirable:
Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to support design handoff.
Exposure to rapid prototyping and iterative design in agile environments.
Experience in healthcare, clinical, or other regulated environments.
Experience using analytics tools.
Mentoring or pairing with junior designers.
