Job Summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a Project Manager to lead and manage specific projects across the organisation in collaboration with colleagues and partners. The post holder will deliver projects autonomously within delegated parameters, formulate, implement, and monitor project progress, and may supervise project staff. The role also includes responsibility for training staff at all levels.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months, until 31 March 2027. Interested candidates applying for a secondment must obtain permission from their current line manager prior to applying.

Main Duties

The Project Manager will:

  • Plan and organise complex activities in support of service redesign.

  • Develop and monitor detailed project plans with teams across the organisation and with external partners.

  • Implement governance arrangements for projects.

  • Identify risks and develop contingency plans.

  • Keep the Project Board informed via Highlight Reports and End Stage Assessment Reports.

  • Monitor risks and issues through risk and issues logs, escalating as appropriate.

Language: The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate, lead, and deliver project workstreams while maintaining a planning framework.

  • Deliver activities within required timelines, quality standards, and resource constraints.

  • Monitor overall project progress and resource utilisation.

  • Analyse and interpret complex information to develop improvement plans.

  • Identify stakeholder needs and provide sound judgement using diplomatic, influencing, persuading, negotiation, and change management skills to ensure successful project delivery.

Person Specification

Experience (Essential):

  • Project and/or Project Management Office qualification (PRINCE2, MSP, or equivalent).

  • Proven experience managing successful projects.

Skills (Essential):

  • Ability to develop and monitor complex project or project plans.
