Job Summary

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership is seeking a talented Graphic Designer and content creator to join the communications team. The role involves designing and delivering high-quality bilingual content and materials across the organisation, including reports, social graphics, animations, and other digital or print materials.

The ideal candidate will have NVQ Level 4 in Graphic Design or equivalent, with proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Office, and emerging design platforms. Strong planning, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines are essential. Knowledge of current design trends and accessibility standards is also required.

Main Duties

  • Deliver high-quality bilingual designs in line with NWSSP branding guidelines, Welsh Language Standards, and accessibility requirements.
  • Manage and interpret design briefs, providing advice, guidance, and design solutions to colleagues.
  • Create compelling designs across multiple formats, including print, digital media, and animations.
  • Support the communications team in managing physical resources, including printed materials and filming equipment.
  • Develop branded assets and templates to enable colleagues to create resources within brand guidelines.
  • Liaise with teams, external printers, and suppliers to ensure all bilingual content meets print and industry standards.
  • Advise staff on effective methods for design, production, and finishing of graphic design work.
  • Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 4 in Graphic Design or related subject, or equivalent
  • Understanding of animation and latest technological advances
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat for proofing and print

Desirable:

  • Degree in Graphic Design

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in design for print
  • Understanding of accessibility needs

Desirable:

  • Welsh language skills (levels 1–5 in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding)

Skills

Essential:

  • Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external clients

Desirable:

  • Advanced skills in graphic design and animation
